Using a simlar approach to illustration as with his creative writing, Mark produces images from spontaneous subconscious thought capturing a multitude of different human experiences in an abstract context
"Presenting Poetry in different forms and in unusual contexts can provoke interest in people to be more open to the text. If they don't initially know that it is poetry, then their response can be free of any preconception. This gives the piece an opportunity to speak to them. I try to intergrate poetry and visual art in a way that each medium reflects the other in a manner that strengthens the experience of them both."
"I place value on spontaneous, automatic or subconscious creation, I write, draw and when I am at my best speak quickly and instinctively, allowing an interplay between the conscious and subconscious until the narrative appears."
